OKARO continues her ascent in futuristic pop with the new single “TURN UP. Behind the moniker is Swedish-Assyrian visionary Delia Okaro, who balances party-set energy with intimate emotional complexity. Following the success of her DREAM GORA EP, this track blends cyber R&B and nocturnal synths, capturing a story of desire and heartbreak through a lens of soulful, moody vulnerability. The result is a high-quality display in emotion and atmosphere, representing a thorough success from OKARO and producer Giuliano Cotta.
A captivating vocal performance stirs throughout the production, both moodily atmospheric and infectiously replay-inducing in its palpable momentum. Subdued, dreamy synths bolster the soulfully mellow vocal allure, conveying a “time to party” enthusiasm as throbbing bass and slight percussive pitter-patter complements the nocturnal synth backing. Gradual backing vocal adornments bolster the soundscape further, as does the heightened “don’t worry about me” vocal pushes.
“Whatever came between us,” the vocals continue to enthrall, there especially memorable as the instrumentation scales back momentarily — and then into a blissful final sequence as it re-emerges, now with an added grimier, buzzing synth element and head-nodding percussive crispness; the additions are very brief though impactful, and carry well into a peacefully mesmerizing finale. Full of mood and melodic charm, “TURN UP” is a stellar output from OKARO.
