Deaf Echo – “All But Love”

Los Angeles-based trio Deaf Echo craft a catchy, stylish vigor on “All But Love,” vibrantly melodic in its breezy guitar twangs, bass-y intrigue, and harmonious vocals — sounding like a stellar cross of The Strokes, Last Dinosaurs, and Tame Impala. It marks another success from the team of singer-songwriter and rhythm guitarist Amir Hammoud, lead guitarist Jesús Omar Lopez, and bassist Reda Hammoud — after they stopped us in our tracks last year with excellent single “Talking Around.”

“Always calling out my name, night and day,” the lushly absorbing vocals open, following steady increases of guitar twanging. The vocals maneuver initially amidst a throbbing bass pulse, complemented seamlessly by those chiming guitars as the irresistible chorus hits: “Oh, I feel it coming on / Sin is all too fun / The way you say you want a taste / Call it all but love.” The final minute dazzles further with a slight shift in melody, conjuring that Tame Impala comparison as “make you mine” vocal temptations pair with soaring guitar tones. “All But Love” is another delightful, replay-inducing success from Deaf Echo.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
