Gravegonzo – “Whatever, Forever”

/

Conjuring a sound that melds an intriguing dream-pop lushness alongside an artful production with shades of Burial in its vocal samples, “Whatever, Forever” is a memorable track from Peckham, UK-based act Gravegonzo. Soulful glimpses of various vocals are infused within a gliding synth line, while backing pads add a ghostly glow. Snappier rhythms move in infectiously, while a lead vocal emergence compels thereafter: “Now am I wasting time, striving for some poetry in life.” Thematic introspections on time’s fleeting nature merge with a melodically lush gem of a production, especially consuming in the string-laden concluding layers, for a thorough success from Gravegonzo.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
