Emily Daccarett – ‘Another World’ EP

Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist Emily Daccarett enthralls with both emotional power and electronic-pop atmospherics on the newly released EP, Another World. Its deeply personal narrative arc was written following the passing of Daccarett’s partner, in turn navigating the transition from fated connection to enduring grief. By blending nostalgic cinematic synth-pop with modern production, Daccarett creates a fully immersive success of an EP.

Opening the EP, “Clarity” pairs pulsing rhythms, stylish guitar work, and yearning lyrical sentiments for an absorbing overall sound. “My heart was yearning in the shadows,” Daccarett’s moody vocals resonate amidst the steady rhythms and twinkling synths. A rock-ready vigor ensues as electric guitars infuse seamlessly. “I don’t know what our souls are made of, but the cosmos are to blame,” her vocals soar there, consuming in their alternations between lush introspections and anthemic power. “But I carried you out of the darkness, and you carried me out of my own,” the vocals continue into twangy guitar delights, intertwining with synths for an empowering depiction of surrendering oneself to true love.

A serene, gorgeous synth-laden entrancement then takes hold on the EP’s riveting title track. Caressing starry-eyed synths and the “past midnight” vocal commencement craft a distinctively nocturnal charm, set under the stars. “Within this darkness in which I curl,” the references to dark continue, though set during this magnetic section amidst fluttering guitars and peaceful overall instrumentation. Lyrical transformations of grief into something hopeful coexist with a dreamily enticing production, consistently melodic in the inviting vocal layers and cinematic “rusted dream” intrigue. Serenely atmospheric yet emotively empowering, Another World is a captivating EP from Emily Daccarett.
