hart – “over my head”

Fondly resembling M83 and MGMT in its mixture of moody and spirited synth-laden pop, “over my heart” is a hooky and anthemic success from hart. “I had a dream we made it,” soaring vocals let out amidst jangling guitars, lamenting in the “clock runs out” and “I don’t wanna come down” reflections — moving from gleeful made-it excitement to the reality of ticking clocks and everything coming to an end, especially mere dreams. Playful synth tones infuse seamlessly thereafter, and the track overall dazzles in its range between those bursting synth-touched moments of charisma and jangly, moody intrigue. “over my head” is a thorough success from the East Williamsburg-based artist.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
