Purple Grace – “Narcissist”

New track “Narcissist” marks a compelling stylistic evolution for Purple Grace, a Didcot, England-based five-piece that moves from their indie sound toward a high-energy alt-rock fervency. Featuring the arrival of vocalist Emily and bassist Ben in 2025, the group draws from the heavy, melodic legacies of Paramore and Bring Me The Horizon on this latest single, which excels with a grooving, dual-perspective narrative that shifts from rhythmic verses into the band’s signature big-chorus energy.

A pulsing, charismatic bass and percussive synergy opens the track, sharply complemented by bouncy piano and an ensuing vocal suaveness. “You got some nerve throwing those punches,” Emily’s riveting vocals let out, maintaining a memorable introspection into a “we’re all one people” sense of unity. “Here we go again,” the vocals then ascend with anthemic vigor, the “maybe I just love myself / maybe I’m a narcissist” entrancement pairing with sturdy guitar distortion and multi-layered vocal adornments, for a replay-inducing sequence fondly reminiscent of Wolf Alice.

A guitar-forward emphasis takes hold after the two-minute turn, thrilling with its rollicking energy before a soulful “here we go again” vocal refrain. The production’s seamless swell from bass-forward pulsations into an all-encompassing rock ardor makes for a climactic, exciting listening experience — propelled by a confidently melodic vocal lead and tightly constructed rock sound. “Narcissist” is a rousing rock success from Purple Grace.
