The Child of Eve – “I’m Here”

“I’m Here” is a haunting folk standout from The Child of Eve, the Chicago-based project of Ben Groth. Described as “about fear worn as a mask,” the track maneuvers from trickling acoustic-led momentum and enthralling vocals, which retain a powerful quality despite a tonal disposition that’s often hushed amidst the guitars and swells of strings, the latter creaking throughout until a layered final minute — where “I’m here” vocal decisiveness resonates alongside a darkly effective realm of distortion, strings, and guitars. Enamoring in its developments from contemplative folk to a more rock-touched edge, “I’m Here” represents the second song releases ahead of the project’s debut albujm, which we’re certainly now anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
