Developing enjoyably from serene keys and moody guitar tones into a twangy, melodic payoff, “Poor Anselmo” is a memorable single from Charlotte, NC-based band Time Parade. The track comes via their upcoming EP, Those Who Do Not Jump Will Never Fly, out via Space Factory Media. They describe the single as “inspired by the final moments of the character Robert Jordan in For Whom the Bell Tolls — less an adaptation than an emotional lens.”
Illuminated keys, head-nodding percussion, and layered guitars move into an understated vocal emergence: “Oh just come along he said / I can’t do the things that you do.” The title-touting beckoning to “guide me home” then dazzles as textured guitar twangs combine with the heartfelt vocal refrain for a wholly affecting reveal. Showing well across both dreamy spaciousness and more evident emotion, “Poor Anselmo” is a lovely output from Time Parade.
