Anthony Presti – ‘Lemon Moon EP’

A compelling new EP from Anthony Presti, Lemon Moon showcases memorable rock-forward songwriting recorded within a converted Sebastopol, CA cottage. Backed by Sonoma County act Blue Radio, the tracks tout a sincerely affecting rock sound, thematically navigating personal struggle through a variety of hooky reveals and alternative sophistication.

Kicking off the album, “Simple Things” delights in its warming array of twangy guitars, heartfelt piano, and steady rhythms. Blue Radio’s presence as the backing band stirs, especially in the “trying to clear my mind” chorus, where tender guitars and illuminated organs complement an enamoring vocal hookiness. Heightened guitar tones consume around the three-minute turn, more expressive in their free-flowing twangs. Ensuing track “Never Gonna Be Famous” compels as well, its humorous “never gonna be John Stamos” lyricism pairing with a celebration of oneself, even if fame probably isn’t in the cards. Gliding guitars and bouncy bass bolster the “never gonna be famous” vocal melodics for another replay-inducing success.

Another EP standout, “Her Eyes” struts a mixture of debonair guitars, vibrant piano, and colorful organs. “Makes me feel something, alive,” the vocals let out, moving into a reggae-touched “alone at night” introspection in the memorable, catchy chorus. The understated verses develop seamlessly into the multi-layered vocals and comforting organs. EP finale “Sitting On A Wave” envelops as well, its suave bass groove and hazy, psych-friendly guitar work evolving with lovely momentum. A title-bearing chorus, “contemplating days,” is relatable in its accounts of personal struggle in the day-to-day, set amidst another melodically impactful production. The Lemon Moon EP showcases consistently high-quality songwriting from Anthony Presti.

“Never Gonna Be Famous” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
