Cape June – “Sound Boards”

Described as “about the weightlessness of being welcomed without the pressure to perform,” “Sound Boards” is another enveloping track from Cape June, the ambient-folk duo of Mariel Max and Lindsey Zagorodnev.

Catching our ears last month with the affecting “The Breakers,” Cape June again achieve a heartrending sound here, with weeping strings and lush acoustics complementing lyrical pursuits of emotional tranquility: “I found a place where I belong / I found a space where I won’t fawn / Over anything or anyone.” Both tracks were recorded and produced by Greg Castro at The Outlier Inn in the Catskill Mountains, and put on full display an act in Cape June that stirs with consistently moving folk songwriting.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
