The first unveiled single from FLINN‘s upcoming album, ARC, “40 Blocks” is an emotively captivating success — described by the Portland, Oregon-based artist as “about finding solace in a small window of human connection.” He continues: “Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the loss of my mother, the struggle to rebuild my house, and becoming a new father, it reflects how something I’d often taken for granted becomes essential.”
Out ahead of the album’s July release, “40 Blocks” delights in its expanse from piano-set introspection to spacey synth-laden gorgeousness. “Keeping up with all the things you do, we’re drifting through, part of the day,” the artist’s vocals let out, capturing that taking for granted of the day-to-day. Lovely synth tones culminate thereafter, starry-eyed with mystique as the vocals re-emerge with a “change in the weather” immersion. Stunning across both its ballad-forward ruminations and synth-led vibrancy, “40 Blocks” is a stellar track that has us fully anticipating FLINN’s upcoming full-length, ARC.
