Morgara – “Desire”

A riveting single that explores yearning in various facets, from romantic to creative pursuits, “Desire” is a lovely output from Toronto-based artist Morgara. A gripping array of frolicking piano, heartfelt strings, and layered vocals deliver poignant themes, specifically exploring “the exhausting paradox of longing, where the very thing that keeps us alive can also consume us.”

An art-pop and chamber-pop hybrid shows in the flourishing production, resembling Weyes Blood’s most uplifting works, tonally. “Desire, the fire’s catching in my soul, got nowhere to go,” Morgara’s vocals excel, harmoniously bolstered by backing sections in the wish that “desire weren’t blazing all the time.” Concluding with a relatable drive to be free from it all, “Desire” is a gorgeous production that dazzles especially in its soaring vocal work and string-touched dramatics.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
