Los Angeles-based project Ghost Pavilion fuses dark alt-rock and nostalgic post-punk on new track “New God,” a stellar output that thematically explores “technology, modern worship, and artificial intelligence,” per James Higgs, the creative behind Ghost Pavilion.
A lovely layering of guitar twangs and jangly undercurrents compel as the production gets underway. “We can have it, we can have it,” a sturdy vocal presence follows amidst rumbling bass and shimmering guitars. Whirring background elements inject seamlessly alongside this effective refrain, then guiding into a serene synth-forward spell at midpoint; the dreamy entrancement there is lovely, as is the cohesive drive to the more raucous, rock-minded enthusiasm throughout the outro. “New God” is a poignant, momentum-filled success from Ghost Pavilion.
