Ringlet – “December”

Featuring former members of Deafheaven, Oakland-based band Ringlet conjure a moody, enthralling rock success with recent track “December.” Lonesome guitar jangling develops into steady rhythms and a whirring layering, while introspective vocals exude a hazy “trace the jetstreams in the sky” caressing.

“We were only just kids,” the vocals continue with nostalgic, retrospective intrigue, as the jangling guitars persist beautifully. An eruption of distortion ushers in past the first minute, riveting in its gauzy expanse as the heartrending vocals ask “was this all just a dream?” The heavier, layered guitar tones persist thereafter, delighting amidst the memorable vocals, which seamlessly balance submerged dreaminess and upfront emotion. “December” is a rousing rock gem from Ringlet.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
