Textbook Maneuver – ‘Adrenaline Slapped One Two Two’

New Jersey-based composer Michael Keane’s electronic project Textbook Maneuver drops the limited-edition vinyl: Adrenaline Slapped One Two Two, out today. Blending classical piano roots with a talent for evolving electronic soundscapes, the release features futuristic electro-pop originals alongside a trip-hop remix by IDM legend µ-Ziq.

“Adrenaline Slip” opens the release with stylish momentum, weaving click-clacking rhythms with woozy, subdued synths. Spacey, robotic-like flourishes move in as the one-minute turn approaches, thereafter embracing a more fervent, clanging quality with futuristic electronic immersion. A dreamy vocal-like stirring lingers in the background with ghostly resonance, as well, while the production shifts masterfully between moments of understated, twinkling serenity and more impassioned electro-pop directions. Next up, “Adrenaline Slip (µ-Ziq Remix)” envelops with a nocturnal-sounding intrigue, inducing a trip-hop nostalgia in its heavy rhythms, caressing synths, and glimmering keys. Shimmering soundscapes and industrial-ready vigor collide within this remix’s fantastic sound.

The standout atmospherics continue with “Birds (Branched Off Remix),” initially haunting in its moody electronics before driving into trickling, melodic entrancement and illuminated synth power. “Places” also compels in its gradual textural additions to a beautifully understated piano emphasis, while finale “I Get It, You Just Don’t Get It” shifts to a grimier, danceable interplay of steady rhythms and nostalgic synth work. Captivating in its dynamic electronic soundscapes and memorable structural swells, Adrenaline Slapped One Two Two is a standout release from Textbook Maneuver.

“Adrenaline Slip (µ-Ziq Remix)” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
