“I wrote ‘COLORS’ with a close friend during a writing session that quickly turned into us opening up about our deepest wounds,” the Israel-based ARI4 explains. “We ended up talking about ‘trauma bonding’: how easy it is to connect with someone over shared pain, and how heavy it can feel.”
A gorgeous interplay of heartrending strings and twinkling keys crafts a dreamily enticing introduction, before moving seamlessly into steady acoustic strums and percussion. A lushly enveloping vocal presence follows, projecting a fierceness in its “not scared at all” outpouring as jangly guitars meld beautifully with the piano. The ensuing “raise a flag” uptick in emotion continues the sense of palpable momentum, the striving to “change my life” furthering that immersive build-up. Distorted electric guitar and prancing piano delight in the subsequent section, sounding both melodic and atmospheric in its powerful execution.
The final minute and a half fully embraces that rock-minded realm, featuring intensified harmonic haunts and stirring electric guitar work. “Come and take my hand,” the lead voice beckons alongside the fervent guitar tones, musing how “life is just a game” amidst finalizing reassurances, as the impactful vocals and guitar work fade out with satiating impact. “COLORS” is a strong achievement in songwriting and production from ARI4.
