A heartfelt rocker depicting the overwhelming tendency of noisy internal dialogue, “Quiet Ghost” is a stirring track from Josh Raines, the project from Nashville-based producer and songwriter Josh Wienczkowski. “I wrote this song on the other side of overcoming depression,” he says. “It’s about when our internal dialogue can get so loud during low chapters, it’s hard to hear everything around us.”
Shimmering guitar jangles and illuminated tones bring about a bright soundscape initially, continuing the artist’s knack for pairing ruminations on depression with effervescent rock allure. “Dissociated sinking in Chicago haze, waiting on the tides to change,” his vocals let out spaciously, then beckoning alongside shimmers of guitars: “Busy head / Wake me when I’m dead.” That lyricism reprises during a delightful, replay-inducing hook thereafter, then shifting back to the verses’ personal introspections: “Sleepwalking under heavy rain, I’m insane.” “Quiet Ghost” is another impactful success from Josh Raines.
The artist also caught our attention last month with single “Daydreaming,” written after overcoming depression and described as “about when our minds are in a tough place, thinking about the shoulda, coulda, woulda’s.”
