Enveloping in its swell from Americana introspection to twangy fervor, “Easy Money” is a stirring track from Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Anjoli Simone. Also a touring guitarist with numerous acts, from R&B to post-punk, Simone’s eclectic ability extends to her solo material. The first single from her upcoming album, “Easy Money” opens with warming guitars and an introspective delivery.
“My charade has gotten old,” her vocals admit, suggesting themes of personal rebirth following tumult. “Cut to the end of a different story!” the phrasing then shifts to a spirited allure, with synths complementing the guitars, as the instrumentation expands into underlying distortion and twangier expressions. “Come to the backroom, I’ll show you a secret,” the lead lines continue to entice, traversing this excellent track with melodically gripping prowess. “Easy Money” is a standout solo effort from Anjoli Simone.
