A solemn synth pulse and percussive pitter-patter drive into a phrasing admission of feeling hollow, enticing to “follow me through the dark, and then you’ll know.” The synth work here assumes a bouncier, magnetic quality, shifting back to more spacious intrigue as the lead poders “I wonder if you feel the same way as I do, after everything we’ve been through.” The lyricism artfully captures the sense of hollowness that inhabits one’s soul following a relationship’s erosion. Backing harmonies — asking “why do you feel so hollow?” — add further to the engaging, melodic soundscape. “Hollow” is an absorbing success from Orchid Orchid.
