Edditter – “Ancestral”

Italian electronic artist Edditter captures the meeting point of pioneering electronic principles and contemporary glitch experimentation on recent track “Ancestral,” a spontaneous composition originally recorded in one take during the 2020 lockdown. Jumpy synth patterns, playful keys, and increasingly spacious tonal shifts create an engrossing journey between restless sonic curiosity and spacey serenity, marking another avant-garde success from Edditter.

The production compels in its dynamic glitchy appeal, spanning from the initial jumpy allure to a dreamy midpoint, which at the 7-minute mark unveils a spacey lushness that hypnotizes before arriving into higher-pitched, frequency-like shimmers. The first several minutes compel in resembling a robotic interaction of sorts, in its chirpy synth tones and often ensuing bass-y warbles. A glistening playfulness around 03:30 is particularly memorable in its wondrous feeling, exuding a starry-eyed, classical-like character.

The shifts between the lusher, arpeggiated tones and ascending experimentation are striking throughout, with the former playing like a sort of solace from the hectic world surrounding it. The track’s final 30 seconds shift into a final, gleefully serene assortment of keys that whir with excitement into a wholly satiating send-off. “Ancestral” is a riveting success in electronic experimentation from Edditter, who has also impressed with previously featured tracks like “Snowflakes Flight” and “Winter Memories.”
