Mauve Bellami – “Princess Mombi”

California-based artist Mauve Bellami unveils a memorable electro-pop sound on new single “Princess Mombi,” using the imagery of the titular Return to Oz character alongside a hook-filled array of stylish electronics. “Nothing matters, pick a role,” her vocals resonate as dreamy synth plucks conjoin. The production is concise at just over two minutes, though makes a strong impression in its dreamy atmospherics and melodic vocal work.

As the artist further elaborates: “Princess Mombi is a character from the film “Return to Oz,” who steals the heads of beautiful women and keeps them in a sort of vanity. She chooses different heads to wear, keeping her own true head in a sealed box in the same room. The song uses Princess Mombi imagery to explore performance, self-eras.”
