ultrasaturated – “Swimming Thru”

/

A dreamy engrossment shows throughout “Swimming Thru,” a new track from ultrasaturated. The band’s members are mainstays in Italy’s hardcore and punk scenes (playing in bands like Halfway Home, Amalia Bloom, and La Pioggia Su). “Swimming Thru” pursues a lusher sound in comparison, enamoring with a blend of new-wave, dream-pop, and shoegaze.

Heady guitar textures are crafted by a jangly flickering and steady bass suaveness, which shows its Joy Division influence. Relaxed, melancholic vocals express “I will never forget,” with convincing appeal, building to an eerie meshing of guitars and synths approaching the second minute, aesthetically reminiscent of a more laid-back Wild Nothing. “Swimming Thru” is a quality showing from ultrasaturated, releasing ahead of their debut EP, Universal Hologram.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
