Arthr – “Context Unavailable”

/

A spacey synth arpeggio and gently building bass line provides the entryway for “Context Unavailable”, the atmospherically gripping new track from Arthr, “an audio visual act based on the live performance of electronic music, whilst also telling the story of ‘Arthr’ through the medium of stop motion animation.” The track is accompanied by the film above, where we found the titular character in an industrial environment, not too distant from the dystopic world of Aphex Twin. Acts like Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin come to mind with their developing atmospheric awe, and Arthr infuses an interesting visual component. In both track and video, the moment around 02:20 – where he flies into space – is a delight. This is a great track from a clever and ambiguous project.
