“Glow”, a new track from Vancouver-based alt-rockers Mellt, showcases the group’s strengths well — namely, reverb-laden atmospheric construction that emphasizes spaciousness and natural psych-friendly development. Their second EP, Visions, just dropped on January 12th and is led off by “Glow” (the rest can be streamed below). Rather than the other efforts being a similar-sounding bit to “Glow”, the four tracks show a nice variety, from the slow-moving aquatic closer “Fool of You” to the bouncy “Keep Us Apart”. There’s a nice variation of captivating atmosphere and contagious hooks throughout, with “Glow” prioritizing the former but certainly having its share of hook-laden moments, like at 02:50 when swells of guitars combine with the haunting vocals, producing a sound reminiscent of Wild Beasts/Hayden Thorpe.
