“Reminders” is the third single from Seattle duo Perfect Families, whose new EP Gradients will be released on August 16th. The verse features soft vocals, an illuminated synth pad, and funky bass line, with twangy guitars entering the fold prior to the one-minute mark, when a soaring hook with an uptick in vocal intensity reveals itself. It’s not a huge transition, though just effective enough to emit an anthemic passion. The project, comprised of brothers and multi-instrumentalists Joel and Micah Smith, has been building a steady following in the Pacific Northwest for the strengths showcased on this track, recalling the lo-fi whimsy of Ariel Pink and jangle-pop of Real Estate.
