Japeto – “Odyssey”

//

“Odyssey” is a twangy piece of jangle-pop from Japeto, revolving around themes of “heartbreak, more heartbreak, [and] being an emigrant.” Self-produced, recorded, and written, “Odyssey” showcases passionate funk-tinged vocals, remindin of The Style Council in its integration of funky vocals with ’80s-tinged guitar twangs, as currently being embraced by the likes of Mac DeMarco. Japeto – originally from Dublin and now based in Vancouver – intends to release an EP in the coming months. If “Odyssey” is any indication, we’re in for a treat — with a suave integration of funk and jangle-pop being pulled off wonderfully here.
