Atlanta-based artist Joshua Worden produces an eclectic, atmospheric sound throughout his recently released album Cinders, which showcases everything from R&B and trip-hop to pop and chillwave in its variety of sounds. One of its standouts, “Bivens Arm”, isn’t too far from Sufjan Stevens’ electro-minded sound on his The Age of Adz, incorporating smooth vocals with a reverbed percussive presence and electronic flourishes. The hypnotic first two minutes transitions to murkier depths thereafter, with heavy keys and a lingering synth arpeggio expand the track’s feel. “Bivens Arm” is a densely successful effort that provides a peek at a sound full of variety and wit.
