ALYA – “Animals”

/

Mashing together aspects of pop, trance, jazz, and classical music, ALYA shows eclectic wizardry throughout her material, particularly on new track “Animals”. The aesthetic reminds of The Dresden Dolls’ darker narratives at points, with ALYA’s vocals rising from a creeping whisper of sorts into a more menacing growl as strings and electronic elements enter the fold. Tonally diverse and constantly requiring listeners to be on guard, “Animals” is an adventure of a listen, to say the least. Aptly enough, ALYA encourages listeners to imagine music with “no fear, no boundaries, and no rules.” It makes sense, considering her own creative process enjoyably pursues such outside-the-box ideologies.
