M w S – “Nobody”

/

M w S are a London-based duo of Italian origin, showcasing a soulfully gripping sound on lo-fi black ballad “Nobody”. Complete with suave guitar licks, jazzy keys, and an enduring backing organ, “Nobody” rides on a syncopated abstract beat (via French producer Smthbts), sampling Ahmad Jamal’s piano-playing. The vocals are faultless, the crooning “nobody can take me down like you do,” rising in fervency as the track progresses, the smoky organs and jazzy keys serving as an engaging backdrop. Musing about the other side of soul mates, “Nobody” is a surefire success from M w S.

Per the duo: “When it comes to soul mates our minds can easily go to glossy sunsets, loving glances and sweet melodies. This song is about how that connection can turn into something toxic but still impossible to walk away from.”
