DPLV – “Someone Else”

/

“Someone Else” is an enjoyable slice of dark synth-pop from DPLV, the project of Minneapolis-based Jacob Gossel that impressed in June with the hypnotic and infectious track “Look Back“. “Someone Else” ditches some of the retrospective shoegaze-laden sound for a punchier, pop-forward approach in the realm of synth-pop. His vocals remain emotive and hook-y, though now accompanied by a catchy arsenal reminiscent of Ford & Lopatin, where neon-tinged ’80s nostalgia crosses with dark pop crevices.

“Someone Else” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
