Joel Porter – “Ready for the Harrow”

/

Released this morning, the beautifully serene “Ready for the Harrow” is another success from North Dakota-based artist Joel Porter, who impressed earlier this month with “Amaranthine“. Whisper-y vocals and a budding string-laden tone kick things off, with the 46-second mark ushering in Porter’s caressing vocals over a softly trickling acoustic and mellow piano. The orchestral presence swells gradually, culminating in the excellent presence of brass and a trickling electric guitar around the track’s mid-point and to its satisfying conclusion. “Ready for the Harrow” again shows Porter as a gifted songwriter in both the sense of melody and crafting serene soundscapes.

“Ready for the Harrow” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
