Scuba Dvala – “Soy Boy”

The contagious “Soy Boy” is a slice of lush synth-pop from Swedish act Scuba Dvala. Playful, gentle synth tones complement a hypnotic vocal presence that leads into an enchanting hook, one that expresses a yearning to be “your soy boy,” among gorgeous synth-laden twinkles. Subtle guitar twangs accompany the synth lead in the second half especially, the hook’s re-emergence at 02:21 proving captivating. This is a dreamy success, among the most immediately gratifying I’ve heard in the lush synth-pop niche this year.

“Soy Boy” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
