Darryl Rahn – “Everybody’s Dancin'”

/

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Darryl Rahn penned “Everybody’s Dancin'” as a response to “hundreds of modern pop songs,” in addition to outlining “New York City nightlife through a slightly different lens.” Alongside the track’s melodic twang and power-pop charm, its lyrics enjoyably convey a more realistic take than the typical NYC rom-com. “Maybe I’ll meet somebody, the woman of my dreams, live happily ever after, like on the movie screens,” Rahn sings. “Or just wait here in the corner til’ someone else wants to leave, and wonder why the hell I wore long sleeves.” This melodic take on a more realistic night is a nice introduction to Rahn’s material, which shows lyrical smarts and melodic savvy, also evident on the superb “The Grey”.

“Everybody’s Dancin'” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2018’ Spotify playlist.

  1. Great review. Good guitar sounds in the bridge, has some interesting lyrics here and there such as what you mentioned “why did I wear long sleeves” which bring a sense of character to the piece.
