Darvid Thor – “Do It Again”

/

“Do It Again” is the second single from Australian singer/songwriter Darvid Thor, who for the past decade has played and written in bands like The Cactus Channel, Frida, and Karate Boogaloo. Lush guitars, an active bass, and warmly infectious doses of synths show Darvid’s versatility as a songwriter, with added flexibility in vocals that alternate between light falsetto and a warm tenor. Mac DeMarco’s synth-touched work is a nice point of reference, aesthetically.

Darvid recorded “Do It Again” and the rest of the EP alone in his bedroom, beyond the percussive additions from Hudson Whitlock (Cactus Channel) on lead single “Rest of Your Life”.

The project will be debuting alongside Hemm & Danika Smith at The Gasometer on Sunday, September 9th.

“Do It Again” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2018’ Spotify playlist.

  1. Umm the review is spot on. Warm touches of synth, active bass, which is probably one of my favorite creative features in the song, which was well worth the mention. Do you think a lot of this stuff was sample midi?
