Ivytide – “Shadows”

/

Sporting a melodic aesthetic reminiscent of Junior Boys, though with an added guitar-laden R&B feel, “Shadows” is a striking new track from Montreal-based act Ivytide. The track’s lyrical themes revolve around “distrust in a relationship and inconsistencies that make your mental state unstable.” Smoothly yearning vocals, quick guitar swipes, and a bass-synth lead the way to the “feel it all in the shadows,” hook, as well as the hypnotic key smattering around 01:50. The track melds the guitars, keys, and vocals with a beautiful, atmospheric precision. The nocturnal vibes and tortured croon on display make for an excellent track.
