shy-c – “Hooligan”

/

Throbbing bass and breezy windchime-y looping make for an inviting beginning to shy-c’s new track “Hooligan”, released this past week. Percussive additions around the 00:40 mark do well in bringing listeners to the brief interlude at 00:58, with the entry of icy-cold piano at 01:13 providing atmospheric success. Here, where the guitar line and piano collides enjoyably, is my favorite section of the track. Piano stabs at 01:47 leading into the hip-hop percussion is also a great moment, with the guitar subsequently giving off Ratatat-like vibes. The track touts gripping production that’s both hypnotic and grippingly atmospheric — providing a nice, chill soundscape to consume, especially on a rainy day.

“Hooligan” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2018’ Spotify playlist.
