The Ringards – “Steppenwolf”

//

The Ringards are newly formed rock act from London, touting a successful aesthetic rooted in post-punk and alternative. Specifically, the menacing vocals and rockin’ build-up to a striking chorus reminds me of early Nick Cave material. The vocals in the verses emit an ominous undercurrent amidst the swaying guitar line, with lovably post-punk backing vocals providing a reflective and punchy melodic addition during the chorus. I’m loving The Ringards’ aesthetic and the confident vocal approach/mix on this striking track. Definitely an act I’ll be looking forward to future releases from.

“Steppenwolf” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Shoegaze / Post-Punk / Dream-Pop.
