Improvement Movement – “Super-Center Boy”

/

The suave and twangy “Super-Center Boy” is the latest from psych-pop act Improvement Movement, based out of Atlanta. A jumpy rhythm section combines with melodic vocals and invigorating woodwind flourishes, leading into a tightly constructed chorus complete with briefly enjoyable phrases. “Super-Center Boy” succeeds in merging a psych-rock rhythmic bounce with a power-pop structure mentality, the lush vocal presence and woodwinds being particularly contributory in that regard. Explore more of the band’s numerous single releases on their Bandcamp. The dreamy and twangy “Secondary Steel” is another recommendation.

“Super-Center Boy” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
