Funeral For Bird – “Set Fast”

/

Funeral For Bird are a band from South East London, whose new track “Set Fast” is a stirring folk effort that evolves from mellow vocal duet into an invigorating feel aided by brass lingering and swelling anthemic grandiosity. Aesthetically, there’s a fond likeness to the group Timber Timbre. “Set Fast” is the lead single and opening track off Funeral For Bird’s forthcoming EP. Its emotional power and structural development show a group with strong songwriting and aesthetic abilities.

Per the band:

The song explores a delicate balance between helplessness and hope, isolation and intimacy – wanting to help someone you love, but not being sure how. A slow burner, the song unfurls from an intimately raw opening verse, building to a climactic ending chorus that raises the hairs on the back of your neck, and stops you in your tracks.

“Set Fast” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Folk.
