Maroc – “Dead Pixel”

/

Copenhagen hip-hop duo Maroc entrance with new track “Dead Pixel,” a cut off their self-titled EP, released a week ago today. Comprised of Cobo Maroc and Anton Bentzon, Maroc excels in displaying vocal sections that excel with both precise hip-hop flow and melodic pop hooks. Cobo impresses on the vocal front; his London accent coming “acquired through his English father.” The track impresses from the get-go, and truly grips around 01:09 when the haunting vocal backing emerges, though really gets going in the second half — when guitar additions and an intensifying vocal presence put a feather in the cap’s forward momentum. “Dead Pixel” is a great hip-hop track with rock/pop influence.

“Dead Pixel” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Hip-Hop and Rap.
