Premiere: Yardgames – “Tiny Violin”

/

We’re pleased to premiere the consuming track “Tiny Violin” from Yardgames, the pop project of New York-based artist Will Ian Lakritz (5thPlanet, Pajama People, Panama Papers, Salvador Jolly). Aesthetically, the track touts a fond likeness to Toro y Moi, utilizing nocturnal synth tones alongside a vibrant vocal lead and a touch of funk in the wispy melodic effects. There’s an engaging variation between lusher, sparser sections and those with hectic droplets of synths. Following a number of EPs, and a debut album — Limbo — in 2011, the project describes the album “Tiny Violin” is on — Out of Orbit — as Yardgames’ “final statement.” If that’s truly the case, the project puts a stellar cap to the discography with “Tiny Violin” and Out of Orbit, which can be streamed in full below:

“Tiny Violin” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Lush Indie Electronic.
