Good Days – “Blue”

/

The uplifting, melodic “Blue” is the latest in Good Days’ successful ‘ROYGBIV’ singles collection. The band aims for a calming and loving sound here and succeeds from the get-go, with surf-pop-inspired vocal harmonies that overlap amidst a sweeping organ — certainly reminiscent of Brian Wilson (and “Surf’s Up” era specifically). The “let’s float away,” opening lyric is accompanied by bouncy, carefree keys — a great accompaniment to lyrics about letting go and relaxing. From here, the track offers the infectious and brightly melodic sounds expected from Good Days at this point, after impressing with a bunch of previous releases.

Per the band, “Blue” explores a color “that represents trust, peace and wisdom to us. It’s broken into three phases. The beginning is all breathing and tempo that brings you in and focuses the mind. The middle shifts to a stream of consciousness where we leave all our worries behind. Finally, we end with respect and restored spirits.”

“Blue” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
