Hania Obeah – “Ysp”

/

“Ysp” is an entrancing and atmospheric effort from Hania Obeah, a multi-instrumentalist from Paris, France. The track comes from the just-released album Mind Code, described as “an exploration of the possible use of painting techniques and philosophies on the creation of music.” Specifically, “Ysp” “represents a quest to unleash unexpected capabilities.” Spacey synth bloops and a caressing lead assemble over slight percussion, somewhat echoing the isolation of space tonally. Glistening keys emerge shortly thereafter alongside wordless backing vocal effects. 02:22 onward sees a fulfilling conclusion with all aforementioned elements converging, culminating in a truly successful slice of atmospheric electronica with trip-hop elements.

“Ysp” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.
