Toy Cities – “Digital Waves”

/

From Toy Cities’ forthcoming EP of the same name, “Digital Waves” is a rousing electro-pop success that highlights the Brooklyn-based act’s melodic strengths. Infusing a fondness for post-punk with ’90s indie-pop, Toy Cities navigate through hypnotic, suave verses into a chorus that pops with ample replay value. The “caution!” vocal cue just after the two-minute mark, complemented by synth arps and gliding guitar, successfully navigates into an instrumental bridge before a lusher “caution,” bit. “Digital Waves” is a job well done from this rising act.

Per Toy Cities: “The song laments the feeling of isolation that comes as the world grows more connected, but less personal.”

“Digital Waves” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Electro and Synth-Pop.
