Castilho – “Lucky Ones”

/

Pedro Castilho is a Portuguese songwriter based in Lisboa, whose stellar track “Lucky Ones” comes via his upcoming debut album. The artist first emerged in late 2017 with the more subdued track “Come Back,” followed by second single “Moving Fast, Moving Slow.” This third single is a great time, a shimmering rocker fit for lazy sunshine-filled days. Aesthetically reminiscent of Smith Westerns, “Lucky Ones” rides on brief melodic guitar lines — like at 01:03 — in the midst of warming vocal leads and bouncy key-laden brightness. Castilho clearly has a great knack for melody and, as synth player and backing vocalist of psychedelic rock band Savanna as well, there’s a clear grasp of multiple stylistic pursuits.

“Lucky Ones” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
