Teenage Priest – “Cool To You”

//

“Cool To You” is a supremely catchy single from Teenage Priest, the solo project of Los Angeles-based Taylor Van Ginkel. Spacious keys and tight percussion accompany fairly nonchalant vocals to start, with emergence of bass and synths past the 30-second mark ushering in a confident chorus. A robotic vocal effect at the one-minute turn is infectiously incorporated. A dreamy guitar bridge is another highlight a minute later, helping lead into a satisfying conclusion. “Cool To You” is a track that entices replays with its melodic charm. Teenage Priest is definitely a project I’ll keep my ears out for.

“Cool To You” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Indie Pop.
