Happy Freuds – “The Mountain”

/

Hailing from Javea, Spain, four-piece Happy Freuds pursue a sound reminiscent of ’70s analog rock ‘n’ roll, while also touching on aspects of contemporary rock. They released the full-length Echo of Sounds in July, containing 11 tracks with various personalities. The rousing “The Mountain” exudes a more traditional rock ‘n’ roll feel, in addition to a psych-friendly bridge at the two-minute mark that adds enjoyable variation. “The Mountain” is a stellar example of the band’s rock-forward trajectory. Comparatively, “Allman’s Big Feet” shows a smoother, jam-tinged sound — leading into a nice “let it slide,” section that signals a shift to more fluid guitars, followed by a scorching lead. There’s a bunch of memorable eclectic rock tracks throughout the album, streaming in full below:

“The Mountain” and other memorable tracks from July can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2019’ Spotify playlist.
