A rousing rock success with whirring, warm guitar tones and multi-layered anthemic vocals, “Hair” comes via NYC-based band Crab, continuing the impressive sound captured on last year’s EP, ApeApeApeApeApe. Drawing from influences like Sebadoh and Broken Social Scene, “Hair” ventures from initial fronted guitars and vocals, letting out: “It’s the wind in your hair / It’s the wear on your shoes.” An energized, multi-vocal enthusiasm follows, as do heavier doses of distortion as the initial verses repeat. Exhilarating in its shifts between hazier introspection and punchy rock vigor (particularly around 01:40 in the twanging guitar work), “Hair” is another standout from Crab.
