Shaky Shack – “In Honey”

//

Alex Winter and Mateusz Kosnik comprise Dublin-based duo Shaky Shack. Their bedroom-crafted alt-pop captivates on their sophomore single, “In Honey.” A brooding minimalism ushers the first minute, with an emotive uptick in vocal intensity and synth-laden warbles taking place thereafter. The descending, twangy guitar bridge — with a hint of sax — follows in beautiful form. I’m reminded of King Krule, in terms of atmosphere, in several of these sections. Dream-pop sentiments, hip-hop rhythms, and synth-laden escalation converge beautifully on “In Honey.”

“In Honey” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2019’ Spotify playlist.
