DefByMisadventure – “lynguineo”

“lynguineo” is a consuming new track from DefByMisadventure, the Irish producer who impressed last year with “Rabbit” and “Number 1.” Guitar twangs and haunting backing acoustics pair with snappy percussion for a climatic, otherworldly feel. A warming, psych-fronted bridge around 01:30 diversifies the mix, departing from the prior murkiness before descending again. “lynguineo” maintains a hypnotic, intriguing quality throughout.

Among the artist’s several new tracks on Soundcloud, I’m also drawn by the exotic exuberance of “aghori,” in addition to the gripping cinematic nature of “nightsweats.” The latter meshes modern guitar swipes with timeless-sounding cinematic haunts, aesthetically reminiscent of Flying Lotus. These tracks continue to affirm DefByMisadventure as a producer strongly worth following.

“lynguineo” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2020’ Soundcloud playlist.
